Autistic response to Father God

I heard a gentleman talking about the heartbreak he experienced when his young son was displaying autistic tendencies towards him. His son avoided eye contact, was unresponsive when asked a direct question and seemed out of touch with the family.  As he considered how to help his son, this man, who had no relationship with Jesus at the time, heard what he knew was God speaking to him.  Father God said that he was treating God the same way his son was responding to him.

So I ask you, how do you respond to the presence of God in your life?  What do you think or say when hearing the Bible quoted or a teacher presenting stories and testimonies of God’s every day miracles?  Are you autistic towards God?

This man grieved that he would never experience the love of his son, that interactions between them would be one sided instead of a shared relationship.  Do you ever consider that the Heavenly Father longs for a relationship with you that is more than you doing what He says so you do not feel guilty or ashamed.  Father God wants to love you, and walk alongside you as you experience the wonder of His grace.  He wants to love you. He wants to see you flourish and learn to love Him and others with the same passion He has for you.

Autism is painful….But it can be managed.  Autism towards God can be healed…just ask Him.
